A Claim of Her Own by Stephanie Grace Whitson
Never having read any of her historical titles, I was excited about picking up this particular title by Stephanie Grace Whitson. If you enjoy historical fiction, then this book is for you. Ms. Whitson has written a fine book about Miss Mattie O’Keefe – a young woman with spunk and grit. Mattie comes to Deadwood in search of her brother, but ends up finding more than she’d ever thought possible. Many people in Deadwood befriend her and draw her in to their circle of love, and Mattie has never experienced such a thing before. With betrayal in her recent past and the possibility of someone being after her, Mattie is determined to take care of herself and learn the ways of Deadwood. Read her story of ups and downs and joys and sorrows in this tale that will not only captivate you from page one but also keep you captivated.
I really enjoyed the way this book flowed and the twists and turns along the way. Ms. Whitson is an eloquent, insightful writer. I highly recommend that you stake your claim and pick up this piece of gold sooner than later. You certainly will be glad you did!
